Zuni Cafe Murals:
San Francisco
Client: Zuni Cafe
Role: Producer & Art Director
It was the height of Covid and powerful protests were taking place as a result of George Floyd’s death at the hands of the police. Storefronts were shielded with plywood, turning the city, in the eye of the artist, into a blank canvas on which to create their work as a way of coping. In such a sad and dark time, I wanted to use this blank canvas to bring a positivity back to the community.
In June of 2020, after being laid off due to the Covid-19, I wanted to give back to my community in anyway I could. After being vandalized multiple times, I decided to reach out to Zuni Cafe, an iconic San Francisco restaurant, to help curate a wall of murals that allowed artists to showcase their work and brought some color and spirit back to the community. This restaurant is more than just the food that they serve — they truly understand the meaning of community and standing for what is right and wrong.
